New Product Announcements

Several manufacturers have announced new product line ups for fall. Reheats and new colors seem to be a popular theme this fall. Here are the fall line ups from Korg, Vox, and Roland.

Korg

has re-released their Wavedrum hand percussion controller. With multiple sensors and a high power DSP processor it creates an electronic percussion controller with all of the expression of traditional hand played drums. It is also being released in a limited edition black finish.

Also sporting a new color is the TM-40 Tuner/Metronome. This popular model is now available in a rich Pearl White Finish (TM40-PW).

The microKEY controller is a 37 note USB powered controller with pitch bend and modulation wheels, key transpose, octave shift, and two expansion USB ports.

All of you practitioners of Ukulele have long looked with envy at your guitar playing cohorts with their clamp on guitar tuners and wondered longingly when your day might come. The AW-2U brings the ease of use and accuracy of the popular AW-2/AW-2G series tuners to the Ukulele. Usable with sizes from soprano to tenor and for 4, 6, and 8 strings.

Finally, the Korg SP-170 digital piano is being released in a limited edition vibrant Red finish. With an 88 note Natural Weighted Hammer Action and built in stereo sound this piano is suitable for student, novice, and seasoned veteran players. Ten sounds are provided, including electric pianos, harpsichord, organs, strings, and two skillfully sampled concert grand pianos.

Vox

has released the 6.5 lb "Lil' Night Train" tube amplifier with the same stylish chrome finish as the original "Night Train", The "Lil'Night Train Set" comes with the V110NT Speaker in this limited edition release. With 2 watts of 12AU7 power output and two 12AX7 tubes in the preamp this is the ultimate in tube amp portability.

First introduced in 1958 the AC-15 custom has been the choice of countless musicians throughout the world. Drawing on 50 years of amp building experience the AC15C1 offers 15 watts of tube tone through a 12" Celestion G12 Greenback speaker. This unit is also being offered in a limited edition Vintage Red.

A series of Handwired tube amps are available in 15 and 30 watt combos and a 30 watt head with a 2x12 extension cabinet. Traditional hand wiring techniques and Celestion speakers are used for the ultimate in vintage tone.

Combining the power of digital modeling technology with the traditional tone of a tube(valve)output in an innovative "Valve Reactor" the Valvetronix and Valvetronix+ series of amplifiers offers numerous amp models and digital effects and a full range of power outputs. Offering a "Best of Both Worlds" melding of digital technology and traditional tube guitar amp techniques, these amps are sure to please the hi tech hungry traditionalist.

The AC1Rv combines a battery powered amplifier and a RhythmVOX with 66 built in rythm/song patterns. It runs on 6 AA batteries and includes an overdrive switch.

And last but not least the Joe Satriani amplug headphone amp gives you Joe Satriani's signature tone with the delay on or off in a plug in headphone amp. Rock out without disturbing neighbors, family, or significant others with up to 11 hours of use on two AAA batteries.

Roland

has also announced a fall line up including a new black version of their AX-Synth Shoulder Synthesizer. The glass particle black finish reacts to varying lighting conditions for a "flashy" stage effect.

The C-380 Classic Organ features classic tracker pipe organ feel on the dual 61 note keyboards. It also comes with a library of Rogers/Roland pipe organ sounds, Roland Surround Sound for cathedral sized ambiance, instant switching between classical tunings, six user MIDI couplers for registration flexibility, USB port for recording performances and registration settings, and a compact but luxurious cabinet.

The popular Cube Series of modeling guitar amps has been updated and expanded with the new CubeXL Series. With 15, 20, 40, and 80 watt versions the CubeXL amplifiers feature up to 11 COSM amp models, 8 digital effects, as many as three separate channels, and 80 second phrase looping and 3 channel EQ at the top of the line. With over a million cube amps sold this update should continue the popularity of this line of amplifiers.

The popular FP piano series continues its evolution with and upgrade to the FP-7 piano. The FP-7F adds a new SuperNATURAL Piano engine, a newly developed PHA III Ivory Feel-S Keyboard with Escapement, an onboard Looper for instant sound-on-sound layering, and a mic input with companion harmony effects to the FP-7 piano platform. It is sure to please professional and enthusiast players of all levels.

Roland has also added two new models to their HPi line of digital home/educational pianos. The HPi-6F and the HPi-7F pianos take the core technology derived from Roland's award wining V-Piano and brings it to the educational environment. Both pianos feature the SuperNATURAL Piano engine, PHA III Ivory Feel Keyboards with Escapement, and built in displays in the music rests. The HPi-7f adds a larger 10.4" display, Built-in rhythm and auto-accompaniment features, and a Mic input & vocal harmony effect.

The RD stage piano series continues it's long history with the addition of the new RD-700NX model. The flagship stage piano boasts an advanced SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine, electric piano sounds based on SuperNATURAL technology, a deluxe PHA III Ivory Feel Keyboard with Escapement, a unique Sound Focus feature, and a newly improved user interface with a large, high-resolution LCD. The innovative Sound Focus feature ensures that every note will be heard in the mix, even subtle pianissimo passages, without compressing or coloring the sound.

The Juno name gets a further boost with the release of the new JUNO-Gi. Features include over 1,300 high-quality sounds optimized for live performance, Full-featured 8-track digital recorder onboard with Guitar/Mic/Line inputs, built-in pro guitar effects derived from BOSS’ GT series, high-capacity SDHC card slot for data storage and direct play, and 128-voice polyphony.

For your computer based studio Roland has introduced the OCTA-CAPTURE Hi-Speed USB Audio Interface, and GAIA Synthesizer Sound Designer. The OCTA-CAPTURE is a 10x10 24-bit/192 kHz Hi-Speed USB Audio Interface featuring Eight premium mic preamps, an AUTO-SENS function that intelligently sets optimal input levels for all preamps, Four independent software-controlled Direct Mixers for creating custom monitor mixes, and support for all major DAW platforms on Mac or PC, including OSX 10.6 and Windows 7, through ASIO 2.0/WDM (Windows) and Core Audio (Mac) drivers. Under the Boss name two new compact pedals have been added to their expansive line-up, the ST-2 Power Stack and the PS-6 Harmonist.
