Yamaha DSR Series Loudspeakers at Summer NAMM

As part of its new Summer NAMM line up Yamaha has introduced its DSR series of loudspeakers from there pro-audio, live sound group. The line is comprised of the DSR-112, DSR-115, DSR-215, and the DSR-118W sub-woofer. With built in amplifiers and the all-new D-CONTOUR multi-band dynamic processing these new speakers deliver class leading power and DSP effects.
"These loudspeakers deliver top-quality performance and are ideally suited for a wide range of professional applications," said Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Live Sound, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The new innovations in these speakers set the standard for affordable active speakers by delivering class-leading power, extreme sound pressure levels and a listening experience that redefines high definition audio."
Built in to the DSR speakers are leading edge digital technological innovations including Integral Digital Tuning, Intelligent Dynamic Control, Powerful Digital Drive and extensive DSP protection.
Integral Digital Tuning helps deliver super-clear, high definition sound quality via high-performance 48-bit digital signal processing and advanced acoustic technologies. Digital crossover networks use high-order FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filters for linear phase response, which provides better sound quality than analog crossovers.
Intelligent Dynamic Control enhances sound quality with the D-CONTOUR multi-band dynamic processor, which monitors output levels and varies the amount of boost in each frequency band, providing an ideal balance of dynamic sound with consistent clarity at all volume levels.
With a powerful 1300-watt Class-D amplifier and the Yamaha developed PFC (Power Factor Correction) switching mode power supply, the entire system can achieve its full performance potential. This efficient design allows convection cooling, and eliminates the need for fans. DSR series speakers also employ powerful DSP and 24-bit discrete AD and DA converters, delivering high signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range.
A 3-way fail-safe DSP protection function, safeguards the power supply, amplifier circuits and drivers. The speaker lines premium transducers are custom designed for this application and the enclosures feature military grade durability as well as an attractive finish.
